Learn Kali Linux Episode #20: Virtual Private Network (VPN) Setup (Part 1)

Hello everybody and welcome to thistutorial. Today, I am going to introduce you to VPNs, or virtual private networks, and how you can actually connect to them. Now if you go ahead and try to connectas it is, open up your VPN connects now and say configure VPN, you will see that all the options are unavailable. You will get an error message saying no VPNplug-in accessible. Please install one to enable this button, and that could beproblematic. Primarily because you first need an internet bond in order toinstall these plugins, and if you are on an unsafe bond, or something likethat, I is undoubtedly not recommend doing this. Rather, instead, get it on from your homeconnection.Install all the plugins, do all the necessary prep handiwork, and then you can connect to a VPN of your choice through someother structure as well. In any case, just go ahead and close this network manager.Let’s just go one more time with my mouse over it, and it says wired networkdevice not finagled. Now this can present a bit of a number of problems, so let’s just goahead and solve that. It’s an easy repair. Sometimes it can be a connection wiseproblem that you cannot connect to the internet, or something of different kinds. In mycase it is not, but in your event it are likely to be. So let’s just go ahead and specify it.It’s an easy affix , no big cheese there. Merely type in nano/ etc/ NetworkManager /, with a fund N, and, again, NetworkManager.conf. So that’s the configuration file of our structure manager, and you see here it says controlled= false. So, somewhere it’s okay precisely to use ones and zeros, but I’m not going to take anychances here.I’m just going to type in true, and that’s gonna be it. Ctrl o to saveit, ctrl X to exit. Is it still, yep, it’s still not organized. That is becausethe configuration has not yet been loaded. You need to restart the networkmanager in order to apply the configuration. So really type in assistance network-manager restart. Linux is client sensitive to the point of extreme. I mean, you can have two of the same file, so for example touch test and Test, and if I formed these twofiles they would be completely different.Even though they have exactly the samename, except the first symbol is a capital letter. I time felt like I should mentionthat somewhere around here as it can be useful, and there we go it says Wired Network Ifupdown( eth0 ). Now the boundary is managed, and it is fantastic. So this should work now. Let’s just go ahead andclear the screen. I have a small leafpad, a enter now, it’s a mostly a register ofcommands for things that you need to install. I figured it would save some time by just writing them down now, and not writing them manually during thetutorial as that would be rather time consuming. So, regardless, I’m just gonna changed this because I want to be able to see “whats goin on” when I extend thesecommands. We’re gonna need a bunch of plugins for our network administrator. What we will need is open VPN and pptp, but I’m just gonna go ahead and install the restas well. So let’s just compute the – y so we are not spurred with issues and questions, oranything of different kinds, and that should work far better. And I could actually doone more thing, so let’s see if we can have them all all done in one line.So type in apt-get install, and we are able to merely follow these container names.Actually, the amount of the y’s that I’ve elapsed there is unnecessary, but perhaps if I’ve done it in another way it would make a difference.I can precisely pass one -y at the end of this long command because I’m just gonna list the containers that I wish to install, and it should work , no problems. If I canget around to it, excellent! So, what is the last one? Strong. ctrl Z.just impart it back, yep, there we go. I need network manager vpnc as well, solet’s just go ahead and adhesive that here. And the last one is the gnome extension, of course, for gui. Paste it, extends -y at the end, press ENTER, andthere we go. It’s gonna continued on with the facility. There’s gonna be lots ofnew packets invested. Although they’re pretty small-minded as they are plugins, so they shouldn’t actually take too much of your gap andhard-disk, or anything like that. The quantity of cavity that they do takecollectively, all of them, is like a couple of megabytes. I think that’s it. Even if that. The installing process is fairly fast, thiswill not take a lot of our time, but you appreciate at the end it actually, well notat the end but it is restarting the network manager. However, I will act a reset in the end. Let’s see if I actually needed most or did it do it by default? Actually, it did it by default which is very nice. So, simply by discontinue and starting thenetwork manager, it’s actually lading up the brand-new configuration, and it seems to beworking just fine. So we no longer need the name of requires. As yousaw, you don’t need to actually use every one of these independently. You can precisely useone apt-get install and then type in all the containers that you wish. So let’s just go ahead and reduce this as I’m not gonna need itnow, and I can click on lend. And when I click on included, I get a list of possibleVPN attachments that I can use now, and I’m just gonna pull the tutorial herebecause in the next one we have a lot of work to do.We need to go onto a website, find a suitable VPN, and test them out. See how good they are, look what sort ofIP address can we actually get from them. In all such cases, I entreat you farewell, andI hope to see you in part 2..
